The body of 35-year-old Pinta Nathapong was recovered by the IDF and returned to Israel on Saturday. Pinta had come to Israel from Thailand to work as a farm laborer, hoping to support his wife and young son. On October 7, 2023, he was taken hostage by Hamas during the brutal attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz.
Thailand has endured deep losses in the wake of Hamas’s terror. Forty-six Thai nationals were killed, and 31 were taken hostage—the largest group of foreign nationals held captive by Hamas.
Jewish Federations of North America extend our deepest condolences to Pinta’s wife, son, family, and to the Thai communities in both Israel and Thailand. We hope that the return of Pinta’s body brings some measure of peace and closure to his loved ones.
